Best Dog Stain and Odor Remover Products

Rachael and David’s cat Cora over for a visit.

Having owned dogs and cats, and, let’s be honest, having four kids.  Stains and odors are a problem.

We in the Jaggers’ household have long and productive first hand experience with all of these products.

Over the years we’ve had three dogs and three cats.

We’ve had other visitor cats and dogs from relatives.

With four kids all grown and out of the house, and having some of our pets before the kids arrived, we can boast a solid three decades of experience.

That’s not to say we’ve used all of these products for 30 years.  But, using our 30 years of experience we’ve seen what works and what doesn’t, and these products are the ones you need in your stain and odor arsenal to keep your house fresh and spotless.

Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover

Accidents sometimes happen with even the best trained dogs.

Sometimes they knock over a mug of coffee with their nose or like Dakota, with her tail.

When this happens, her family uses Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover to clean up and combat stains.

This stuff is amazing and her family has been recommending it to their friends for more than 20 years.

Folex is a water based, non-toxic, non-flammable cleaner that is safe for use on any color fast material.

It is odor free and leaves behind no residue or ionic charge to attract dirt that can cause re-staining.

Just spray it onto the stain and lightly scrub with your fingers, then blot up with a clean paper towel.  Repeat this if necessary.

For heavy staining Dakota’s family uses the Bissell Little Green ProHeat Compact Carpet Cleaner recommended below to heavy clean the spot.

If you have the room and to store two bottles, and you find you have the need, you can save about 50% on the second bottle by getting two.

Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator Plus Oxi Clean Dirt Fighters

Dakota says her family uses this to keep their house smelling nice.

Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator Plus Oxi Clean Dirt Fighters can be safely used on carpets, furniture, and even pet beds!

Its long lasting fresh smell stays behind after the baking soda has absorbed the offending odors.

Dakota’s family sprinkles it onto the carpet and lets it sit a half an hour to overnight before vacuuming it up to hide the odors left behind by her and her cat friend Ginger.

Oxi-Clean has been added to the original formula to add dirt fighters that permanently eliminate odors and help you vacuum up to 25% more dirt than vacuuming alone.

It is safe to use around your pets and also can tackle odors from smoke, mold and mildew.

Dakota hides when the vacuum is running, but says she loves the fresh clean scent it leaves behind after that crazy machine is turned off and put away.

Bissell Little Green ProHeat Compact Carpet Cleaner

When big accidents happen, Dakota says her family pulls out the Bissell Little Green ProHeat Compact Carpet Cleaner.  She then runs upstairs until the cleaning is finished.

The “Green clean machine” as her family calls it, heats up its own water in a separate water tank.

The dirty water is contained in an easy to clean removable tank.

It uses a built in sprayer to apply a cleaning solution into the carpet that is vacuumed up with a hand held wand.

Dakota says her family often pretreats these stains with the Folex product we mentioned earlier.  This latest generation of the Bissell Little Green Carpet cleaner uses at least 50% recycled plastic.

So, you can feel good about helping keep the environment cleaner by purchasing products that use recycled plastics.

Bubba’s Super Strength Commerical Enzyme Cleaner

Dakota says that her dog and cat friends tell her that sometimes they find that the smell in one area of their carpet or floor calls to them for repeated accidents.

When this happens, an enzyme containing solution can be used to make it much less attractive to their noses.

The answer of how to treat these repeated accident spots is Bubba’s Super Strength Commerical Enzyme Cleaner.

This product uses natural organic green ingredients to destroy stains and odors permanently.

Bubba enzyme cleaner uses dormant bacteria and becomes active when it comes into contact with any organic compound, working down to the carpet pad.

It has been scientifically formulated to be safe for use around both children and animals.   Bubba’s states “ Its Simple LOVE IT or YOUR MONEY BACK”.

Bubba’s is proudly made in the USA.

GermGuardian AC4825 3-in-1 Air Cleaning System

Dakota says that sometimes using all these products helps keep the air smelling clean, but for households with sensitive noses you may need to employ another tool.

Her family has been using a HEPA filter to combat big odors to keep her home smelling fresh and improving the air quality for years.

The GermGuardian AC4825, 3-in-1 Air Cleaning System with True HEPA, UV-C and Odor Reduction is the perfect answer to help keep your home’s air clean and fresh smelling.

The Germ Guardinan captures allergens, kills airborne viruses and bacteria, and reduces odors caused by mold and mildew.

A True HEPA filter is used to capture 99.97 percent of airborne particles, as small as .3 microns in size, such as dust mites, debris, mold spores, plant pollens, and pet dander.

It’s carbon filter helps with odor reduction.  Finally, its UV-C light kills bacteria and viruses, including: rhinovirus, E.coli, and streptococcus by permanently damaging the DNA of germs so they die.

This air cleaner is ENERGY STAR Qualified.

An indicator will automatically blink when it’s time to replace the Filter or UV-C bulb. No more trying to remember the last time you replaced your filter.

It has Ultra-Quiet Operation and can be kept running all night.

Conclusions for the Best Dog Stain and Odor Remover

We strongly believe in the quad-weapon approach against stains and odors.  We believe these are the best of the best for carpet spot remover, carpet odor eliminator, carpet cleaner/vacuum, enzyme cleaner, and air freshener.

Ginger saying “What are you staring at?”

Dakota says she’s sorry when she has an accident (only happened once and was our fault).  But, Ginger could care less (she’s all cat).  But, we love her anyway.  Just a little less when she coughs up a hairball.
